Wolford, Kinberg, and Petersen Set New LRC Racing Records
LRC Racing sent seven athletes to compete in the 2012 Des Moines Half/Full Marathon on Sunday, October 21st. The race produced 2 new LRC records, and 5 athletes with personal best times. On the men’s side, LRC Racing had an impressive showing, placing 4 runners in the top 25. Neil Wolford led the way, placing 9th overall with a new personal best and LRC Racing record of 1:11:13. He was followed by Mike Rathjewho in his debut placed 14th with a time of 1:12:55. Next in for LRC Racing was newcomer, Andrew Jacob, who joins LRC after competing collegiately for Midland Lutheran, and post-collegiately for Team Nebraska. Jacob placed 17th with a time of 1:14:48. Logan Watley placed 22nd overall with a time of 1:17:54, despite only treating the race as a test run for the NYC Marathon in November. Ben Cohoon also ran a new personal best by placing 36th overall with a time of 1:22:20. Tom Nichols also ran the Full-Marathon after competing in the Twin Cities Marathon just two weeks ago. Nichols ran the first half in 1:13:55, but struggled the final half on his way to a 3:10:17.
On the women’s side LRC’s Hannah Kinberg and Malaina Huebert had an impressive showing in their half-marathon debut. Kinberg was the 5th female to cross the line, running a new LRC Racing record of 1:21:54. Huebert also came in 8th place overall, running 1:28:08. In Lincoln, LRC Racing had seven athletes compete in the Art/FX Governor’s Cup. In the 15k, Frankie Petersen came away with the women’s individual title, running a time of 1:02:27. This time is a LRC Racing record at this distance. On the men’s side Ryan Regnier took runner-up with a time of 55:34. Regnier was followed by Tom Woods who came in 3rd place with a time of 57:00. In the 5k, Brian Wandzilak (18:05) and Austin McKillip (18:07) led the way for LRC, placing 5th and 6th respectively. On the women’s side, Adeline Hohmanplaced 2nd for LRC with a time of 20:40. Next up, LRC will have Logan Watley competing in the New York City Marathon on November 4th. Watley goes into the race with a marathon PR of 2:50:59, which he ran at the 2011 Chicago Marathon. LRC will also have several athletes taking part in the 34th Living History Farms race in Urbandale, Iowa on Saturday November 17th.
