Turkey Trot Weekend

Like many other people around the state, LRC Racing represented at some local Turkey Trots this past Thursday prior to enjoying a delicious Thanksgiving meal.  In Fremont, Jason Zakaras finished the 5 mile race 2nd overall.  His time of 25:56 was good enough for the second fastest time ever ran by an LRC member.  In addition, Maureen Larsen finished the race in 32:11, which was good enough for the third overall female and first master’s woman.  Maureen’s time places her second on LRC’s All-Time Charts and sets a record for the female LRC Masters.

While Jason and Maureen were racing in Fremont, some of their teammates were racing at a similar Turkey Trot in Lincoln.  Andrew Jacob, Logan Watley and Ryan Salem combined to run a 16:03 5k Relay.  The LRC Relay team finished a minute ahead of the overall winner.  Tom Woods was the top LRC individual to finish the 5k race, as he was the second finisher, completing the course in a time of 17:10.0.  Hayley Sutter also won the women’s race in a time of 18:49.1.  Her 5k time is the second fastest time ran by an LRC woman.

The long holiday weekend was capped off with the Holiday Run on Sunday, December 1st, at Pioneers Park.  The race ran on the 5k course, and LRC runners were plenty at the front of the pack.  In the end, Brian Wandzilak out-sprinted Lincoln legend, Ivan Ivanov, for the win, finishing in an unofficial time of 16:53.  Andrew Jacob was not far behind as he finished 3rd; Logan Watley and Ryan Salem rounded out the remainder of the top 5.  Hayley Sutter was also the first female finisher.  As there are no official times or results, we are unable to report specific results, however, other LRC members who competed include Tom Woods, Ryan Regnier, Derek Sekora, Ryan Dostal (first inaugural race) and Brian Kelley.
