State Farm Run

By Logan Watley (March 28, 2011)

The team had a great first race this weekend as four runners ran in the 13th Annual State Farm Run.  Neil Wolford took 1st place in the 5K with a 16:34 (5:20 pace).  Eric Noel led the men’s team in the 10 mile by running 54:54 (5:30 pace), which was good enough for 4th place.  In addition, Logan Watley wasn’t too far behind in 6th place with a time of 56:22 (5:39 pace).  Amber Brandenburger had a great inaugural race by placing 5th overall in the women’s 10 mile with a time of 1:07:54 (6:48 pace).  Even though it was cold, a little snowy and windy, I believe that every athlete who competed on Saturday was happy with their times.
In addition, the team has added a few new members since the last racing season.  Kyle Wagner will be trying to get in some solid times in this summer/fall, Amber Brandenburger has already shown what she can do in a ten mile race, and Derek Sekora will be running his first race as part of LRC at the Novartis run on April 9th.  Along with the new runners, LRC-Racing has added Proformance Physical Therapy as a sponsor.  We look forward to working with them on recovering from injuries in the future as needed (hopefully, it’s not needed very often!).
Every single runner is excited for the upcoming road race season.  Keep an eye on the “2011 Racing Schedule” to see where we will be, and also on the “Recent News” to get updates on how our team does at the different races.
