Spring is in the Air

With the official, unofficial start of spring, the weather allowed for some competitive races at the 2014 Leprechaun Chase 10k.  The race took place on Saturday, March 8th at Mahoney State Park.  Michael Rathje led LRC Racing with a 3rd place overall finish (32:23).  His time moved him up to 3rd place in the LRC Racing all-time charts.  Ryan Dostal (7th, 33:23), Jason Zakaras (8th, 33:44) and Andrew Jacob (9th, 33:56) rounded out the top 10.  Ryan’s time moves him into a tie for 5th and the top ten charts, and Jason’s time puts him on the list as 8th.  Brian Wandzilak also finished 11th overall (34:19), whose time puts him 9th on the team records.  Other LRC men to compete include Derek Sekora (36:51),Austin McKillip (37:26) and Dan Haden (38:09).

The LRC Racing Master’s team continued to run well as Tom Woods lowered his Master’s team record to 34:32.  Brian Kelley also competed, running 37:07, and Darin Schlake was not far behind at 37:15.  Brian and Darin’s time place them 2nd and 3rd, respectively, on the master’s top ten charts.  All three of the master’s men finished first in their age group.

On the women’s side, Frankie Petersen led the way as she finished 3rd overall in 37:41.  Her time moves her up to second place on the team charts.  Hayley Sutter finished the 10k course in 38:14, which placed her fourth overall and first in her age group.  Ann Bauermeister was the lone master’s female to compete, finishing 2nd in her age group with a time of 43:00.

Maureen Larsen also competed on Saturday in the No Frills 5 mile race, finishing as the second overall woman in a time of 34:43.6.
