Despite challenging weather conditions this weekend, LRC Racing still represented well across the midwest.  First on Saturday night, a group of five individuals travelled to Ames, IA for the annual Midnight Madness 10k.  The men’s team of Michael Rathje (33:09), Ryan Dostal (34:14), Jason Zakaras (37:20) and Tim Larsen (37:31) finished as the third overall team, besting fellow in-state club Team Nebraska by 14 points (4:16). Michael Rathje finished 8th overall while Ryan Dostal held steady in the top 15, placing 13th.

Maureen Larsen also ran the 10k in a time of 42:04, third in her age group.  Jason Zakaras ran the 10k after having ran the 5k previously in a time of 17:13 (12th overall).

Then on Sunday morning, LRC Racing took to the streets of downtown Lincoln for the annual Lincoln Mile.  Trevor Vidlak led the way for LRC, finishing in 5th place (4:34.22), while Andrew Jacob (8th, 4:40.47) and Logan Watley (9th, 4:45.25) also placed in the top 10.  Derek Sekora continued his tear of racing in 2015 despite still recovering from his first full marathon in May, running a time of 4:50.62, putting him 9th on the Top 10 Charts. Brian Wandzilak (1st AG, 4:53.71), Austin McKillip (1st AG, 5:01.86), Ryan Regnier (2nd AG, 5:05.82) and Jacob Kaemmer (1st AG, 5:07.64) all ran well in their respective age groups/races as well.

On the master’s side, Chuck Smith led the way, winning and setting a new team master’s record of 5:03.55.  Ryan Salem (3rd AG, 5:16.7), Darin Schalke (1st AG, 5:22.69), Craig Christians (1st AG, 5:26.49), Brett Daugherty (2nd AG, 5:34.51) and Kerry McDermott (1st AG, 6:07.10) also ran the morning’s masters race.

Arguably the race of the day, however, belonged to LRC’s women, where LRC placed 1-2. Erica Doering won in a new team record of 5:18.65, while Hayley was not far behind running 5:21.40, which places her 2nd on the Top 10 Charts.
