Running with the Buffaloes

After I little bit of a racing hiatus, LRC Racing came back on what was probably one of the busiest racing weekends of the year.  With the Nebraska Wesleyan Alumni Run (from where many on the team graduated), the Buffalo Run, the Corporate Cup, the Twin Rivers Freedom Run and Sioux Falls Half/Full all taking place over the weekend, LRC Racing had to make some tough decisions on when/where to race.

A few represented at the NWU Alumni run on Saturday morning (~4 miles), with Johnny Rutford placing 2nd overall (20:54), Cole Marolf 4th (21:05) and Neil Wolford 9th (21:48).

The bulk of the group chose to represent at the Buffalo Run this past Sunday, with Ivan Ivanov taking home the first master’s award in a time of 27:31 (2nd Overall) and Michelle Paxton winning the women’s race by over two minutes (30:48).  Ann Bauermeister also placed first in her age group with a time of 36:34.

Others to represent LRC in the Top 10 at the Buffalo Run included Andrew Jacob (27:51, 3rd), Brian Wandzilak (28:11, 6th) and Derek Sekora (28:57, 7th).  Brian Kelley (30:03, 1st AG), Jason Schmaderer (30:05, 1st AG), Austin McKillip (30:31, 2nd AG), Cole Marolf (30:53), Jeff Hansen (31:27, 1st AG), Brett Daugherty (31:35, 2nd AG), Darin Schlake (31:54, 1st AG), Kevin Burke (33:22) and Kerry McDermott (35:11, 2nd AG) also all raced.

Meanwhile, up north in Sioux Falls, Logan Watley ran a 1:17:30 half marathon workout. He placed 6th with his time, only 2.5 minutes out of 2nd place. Even further up north, Trevor Vidlak ran the Minnesota Mile in a time of 4:23.3 (10th overall). Trevor’s time is a new team record for the distance.

Next up for the team will be an inaugural showing at the Woody Greeno Cross Country Invite at Pioneers Park this coming Saturday.  A full team will be present, representing the blue/yellow.
