2017 USATF Club Cross Country

The 2017 USATF Club Cross Country Championships was held in Lexington, KY on December 9th.  LRC-Racing had another very successful event with our individuals and team competing with the best in our region and country.  Not only is it a great opportunity for our team to square up with some great clubs, it is also a chance to build the family and team based relationships we pride ourselves on and that has made us a competitive force.

With a women's 6k and men's 10k being held on a course with rolling hills and multiple loops, runners were able to get into a little more of a rhythm than a typical cross country course.  Classic winter conditions (overcast, blustery, cold) kept the course firm instead of the mess it could have been.

With a full women's team, full men's team, and two master's runners, LRC Racing was represented across a number of the races run.

The resurgent women's team place 11th overall.  As far as we know the highest placing finish ever by a team from Nebraska.

-Katie Wetzstein 39th, 20:51

-Mary Hillis 58th, 21:08

-Hayley Sutter (coming off a marathon) 95th, 21:49

-Sara Fowler 122nd, 22:16

-Erica Doering 150th, 22:36

-Cassandra Krings 158th, 22:45

On the men's side, they were in the top half of the field finishing 26th as a team

-Nolan Zimmer 53rd, 31:01

-Nolan Border 149th, 32:19

-Jacob Olson 150th, 32:19

-Ryan Dostal 263rd, 33:40

-Andrew Jacob 277th, 33:50

-Tom Nichols 395th (after NYC marathon), 37:29

In the Master's race we had two of our standout team members compete

-Charles Smith 134th in 37:29

-Craig Christians 216th in 40:26

Well done to all of these racers.  Time for deserved rest and a chance to gear up for a great 2018!
