Papillion Half Marathon

Maureen Larsen returned from a racing hiatus of sorts in the best way possible.  She won the Papillion Half Marathon on Sunday, May 18th with a time of 1:28:12, which was almost three minutes better than the 2nd place woman.  LRC teammate, Jason Zakaras, tried to out-do Maureen by both winning the men’s race and setting a new course record.  Jason ran 1:17:23, winning by over one minute.

Jason went into the race planning to use it as a goal marathon pace workout.  ”The weather held really well, so it was not a factor whatsoever”, Zakaras said, “I felt really comfortable the entire time”.  Zakaras was in second most of the day but caught the leader at mile 8, but just kept pace and gapped him in the last 5k.  Full results can be found here.

Other upcoming races for LRC athletes include the Boystown Memorial Day 5 mile run, Havelock 3k/10k, Hospital Hill Half Marathon and Dam to Dam Half Marathon.
