NWU Alumni Run and Buffalo Run

By Logan Watley (September 15, 2011)

The annual Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) Alumni run & Buffalo Run both took place this past weekend.  LRC Racing represented the NWU Alumni men well by having four out of the five scoring runners.  Logan Watley (20:34) was the 1st Alum to finish the four-mile course and 2nd overall.  Neil Wolford (21:26) came back from Kearney to run the race, and he ran well, finishing 2nd of the Alumni and 11th overall.  Close behind were Eric Noel (21:41) and Mike Herz (21:54) finishing 4th and 5th for the Alumni (13th and 16th overall).  Finally, Quinn Lewandowski brought up the rear in a time of 22:49.  Quinn had planned to run conservative in order to double the 5-mile Buffalo Run the next day.

And what a run Quinn had! He finished the insanely hilly course in a time of 28:53, which placed him 7th overall.  Closing quickly on Quinn was Drew pope in a time of 28:56 (8th overall).  Also running well was Derek Sekora (10th) and Ryan Regnier (11th) in times of 29:09 and 29:13, respectively.  I believe this constitutes as Ryan’s inaugural race with LRC as well!  Austin McKillip also ran the Buffalo Run.  All in all, four runners averaged sub-6:00 pace and hit the qualifying standard.  LRC also cleaned up in the 16-24 age group by placing 2nd through 4th, while Ryan was 2nd in his age group as well.

In other racing news (non LRC sponsored), Derek and Amber Brandenburger ran the 5k Mud Run with Derek winning the entire race!  Also, Adeline Hohman (in technically her inaugural race), ran the Hood to Coast Relay in Oregon and also debuted in the Sioux Falls Marathon with a time of 3:57:11.

Cogratulations to all of our runners!  Upcoming races included Omaha Corporate Cup, Market-to-Market, Chicago Marathon, Governor’s Cup and Des Moines Marathon!  Keep checking back to the “Recent News” page for information on results.  LRC Racing is looking forward to getting some runners back from injury and into some future races!
