If you showed up to the 32nd running of the Novartis Run, you were bound to see a lot of blue and yellow at the front of the pack in both the men’s and women’s races.  Back on the roads of Lincoln for the second time this year, the LRC men took six of the top ten spots, while the women took four of the top five spots.  For the men, Eric Noel (32:47), Ryan Dostal (32:50) and Neil Wolford (33:02) paced the men, finishing 2nd-4th, with Jason Zakaras (33:33) not far behind in 5th place.  Chad Sellers (34:16 – 8th) and Ryan Regnier (34:33 – 10th) rounded out the top ten men.  Other LRC men to run were Logan Watley (34:41 – 11th), Derek Sekora (38:25 – 21st) and Austin McKillip (39:10 – 24th).

On the women’s side, Frankie Petersen was the first overall finisher in a time of 39:23.  Amber Sargent finished second (39:58), Hayley Sutter was third (40:10) and Nora Youngs finished fifth (41:20).  Dan Haden also competed in the Novartis two-mile, finishing third overall in a time of 11:43.  Nine-year old Gavin Sellers (son of LRC member Chad Sellers) finished 7th overall in two mile, and was the first finisher under the age of 19 (13:34).

Six new top 10 marks were set by LRC at the Novartis run, four in the men’s 10k (Eric Noel, Ryan Dostal, Jason Zakaras and Chad Sellers), one in the women’s 10k (Amber Sargent), and one in the men’s two-mile (Dan Haden).  Full results from Novartis can be found here.

Tom Woods also competed in the USA Triathalon Southeast Duathalon regional championships at the Double Oak Duathalon in Birmingham, AL, coming home with the overall win.

The next significant race for the majority of LRC members will be the Lincoln Half/Full Marathon on Sunday, May 4th.
