Occupation/Degree you are working towards: Doctorate of Physical Therapy

What is your running background? Began running in middle school because my parents signed me up for it. Ended up running in high school in both XC and track and then ran XC/track at UNL.

Favorite distance to run? Back in college it had to be the mile and 800. Now I can’t say I have a favorite distance, I really enjoy racing any distance!

What are your future running goals? My only goals futuristically in running are just to keep improving and to get into the best shape I can.

I can’t run without…? A purpose

Do you do anything to stay injury free? I love my sleep and I also do some general core/hip exercises.

Do you have a favorite running book/podcast/movie/athlete? Favorite running books would have to be Born to Run and Once a Runner. Favorite running athlete would have to be Eluid Kipchoge.

What is your favorite race you have competed in the past? Grandma’s half marathon as well as nationals club cross.

What is your number one bucket list race you would like to do in the future? This is a tough one. It would be exciting to do the Boston marathon or even go overseas and do a marathon in London/Berlin.

Do you have any advice to other runners? Enjoy the times that you are healthy and even when you do get injured realize there is much more to life than running.

What are your PRs?

800-1:52.8 1500-3:50.8

mile-4:09.1 3k-8:21

5k-15:02 8K-24:58

10k-31:51 ½ marathon-68:30

How long have you been an LRC-Nebraska member? About 2.5 years

What excites you the most about being an LRC-Nebraska athlete? The amount of new people we keep acquiring and the fact that a lot of our runners are great people both on and off the roads. Also having a group to do long runs with!

What does a typical training week look like for you?  Walk us through your daily routine (training related and otherwise): Training- Monday, Wednesday, Friday-easy mileage and then Tuesday is some kind of tempo workout, Thursday is speed, Saturday is long run and Sunday is rest or easy. Right now daily routine is different since I am in clinic. I go to my rotation Monday-Friday from 7:30-4 during the week and will have to start studying for boards when I get off clinic. Weekends are usually time to chill or get more studying in if necessary.

We all approach training and racing differently, so tell us what your short-term and long-term goals are with running: Right now I am focusing on breaking 15:00 in the 5k and getting myself ready as best I can for my first marathon in June at Grandmas. For long term goals, like I mentioned earlier I just want to get into the best shape I possibly can.

Where are your 3 favorite places to do long runs at the moment? Any gravel or limestone areas, so I would say the Gretna gravel roads, East Mopac and Jamaica trail.

After a solid race or long run, what is your favorite meal to demolish and replenish those calories?  Please use details and give recommendations! If it is in the morning and I want breakfast I would love to smash a waffle with some eggs. If were talking lunch or dinner than I would love anything Mexican or the best is an Honest Abes hamburger!

Share a crazy training or racing story, or simply an interesting moment in time: I was in high school and it was track season and we were about 2 weeks from my senior year prom. My date bailed out on me with 2 weeks left, so my buddies at practice tried to get me to ask one of our coaches to go to prom with me. So we wrote Prom on our stomachs and she said she would go with me if I could not find a date in 2 days. I felt bad for her and did not want her to have to go with me, so I tried finding someone to ask. Long story short, the next day after track practice we wrote Prom on our stomachs again and this time I asked this little sophomore girl to go with me. And now here I am, married to that same girl!

What book are you currently reading or TV show are you binge watching? Just finished reading Why We Sleep and am now reading How bad do you want it?

You’re the star of a running movie, and the opening scene is you running on a winding dirt road, with a beautiful sunrise.  What song is playing in the background? Only time by Enya OR Feels great by Cheat codes
