LRC Tackles Woody Greeno Field

For some on LRC, it has been less than 12 months for participating in a cross country race. For others, it had been 10+ years. Regardless, the team represented well at the 2017 Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational this past Saturday, September 16, 2017. Katie Wetzstein took all the college runners to the shed by winning the 6K race in a time of 21:19.4, which was more than 12 seconds ahead of second place! Mary Hillis also cracked the top 10 by finishing 8th place in a time of 22:15.4.  Erica Doering beat more than 150 other runners as she finished 36th in a time of 23:21.3.

On the men's side, Nolan Zimmer continued his fall tear, finishing just outside the Top 25 (26th) in a time of 26:39.1.  Teammate Jacob Olson finished in the top 50 (47th) with a time of 27:10.4. Nolan Border ran 27:18.9 to finish just outside the top 50 (52nd), while Ryan Hruska (89th, 28:18.5) and Andrew Jacob (110th, 28:58.4) rounded out the scoring team.  Connor Bohlken (30:03.9), Kyle Clouston (30:21.8) and Zach Brown (30:33.3) also competed for the team. Had the men's team been scored, they would have finished 4th in the Gold division.

Meanwhile, that next day in Omaha, Anna Hazard competed at the Omaha Marathon 10K. Despite a 6.3 mile measured run, Anna ran 38:43.03, winning the women's race by almost 10 minutes, and coming in just 20 seconds behind the overall winner! Anna's time now places her 9th on the Top 10 Charts.

Next up for the team will be the annual Market to Market Relay, where the team will be putting together a formidable mixed team in an attempt to break our own co-ed record for the 76.2 mile distance (weather permitting).
