LRC Records Fall at 2013 Lincoln Marathon

LRC Racing had 14 athletes compete in the 2013 Lincoln Marathon. With nearly ideal running conditions, LRC came away from the race with two new LRC records and nine athletes with personal best performances.

Eric Noel continued to run well in the men’s marathon, placing in the top ten for the third year in a row. Noel ran a 2:30:10, which placed him 4th overall, and gave him honors as the top Nebraska finisher in the marathon.

In the women’s marathon, Hannah Kinberg made her marathon debut and did not disappoint. She finished 3rd overall and ran a LRC record 2:53:50 which beat the previous record by over seven minutes. Kinberg was also the top Nebraska finisher in the race. Next for LRC was the previous record holder, Frankie Petersen, who ran a personal best 2:54:31 beating her previous personal best by nearly six minutes. Maria Longenecker also competed in the marathon for LRC, running a personal best 3:07:40 on her way to a 13th place finish. Longenecker also was the 2nd finisher in her age group. In the men’s half marathon, Neil Wolford was the top Nebraska finisher when he ran a 1:08:31 on his way to a 3rd place finish. This time beat Wolford’s previous LRC Record by nearly three minutes and is a personal best. Tom Nichols and Mike Rathje rounded out the top ten by placing 8th and 9th place respectively. Both Nichols and Rathje ran faster than the previous LRC record, and for Rathje, it was a PR by over two minutes. Andrew Jacob also competed for LRC running a 1:13:53 and finishing in 12th place. Jacob was also the top finisher in his age group. Logan Watley was the next runner in for LRC, running a personal best, 1:15:26, on his way to a 15th place finish overall. He was followed closely by teammate Cole Marolf who finished 16th overall with a time of 1:15:30. Marolf was also the second finisher in his age group. Tom Woods finished in 18th place and was the top masters finisher with his time of 1:16:38. Austin McKillip also competed for LRC running a 1:23:39 and finishing 36th overall.

In the women’s half marathon, LRC was led by Nora Youngs who ran a personal best 1:26:42 on her way to a 10th place finish. Youngs’ time beat her previous personal best by 6 minutes. Krysta George was the other LRC competitor in the women’s half marathon, and she came away with a 15th place finish with her time of 1:28:02. George was the top finisher in her age group. Next up for LRC will be the Hospital Hill Half Marathon in Kansas City, Mo. LRC will have two men’s and one women’s team competing. For the men, LRC will be sending Logan Watley, Brian Wandzilak, Andrew Jacob, Tom Nichols, Neil Wolford, Mike Rathje, Eric Noel and Ryan Regnier. For the women, LRC will have Frankie Petersen, Maria Longenecker, Hannah Kinberg, Krysta George and Nora Youngs competing.
