LRC Racing Strong at 2016 Shamrock Shuffle

The 2016 Shamrock Shuffle took place in Chicago, IL on Sunday, April 3rd, and LRC once again represented on both the men’s (fourth consecutive year) and women’s (second consecutive year) side.  The men were paced to an 11th place finish (out of 27 teams) by Johnny Rutford (24:44), while Michael Rathje (25:21), Tom Nichols (25:24) and Neil Wolford (25:34) and Ryan Dostal (25:39) all finished over an 18 second span.  The 11th place finish was the second highest in LRC history (9th in 2014).  Rutford’s time is a new team record for the distance, while Dostal’s time moves him up to 5th all time for the 8k distance.

On the women’s side, despite several late roster adjustments, the women finished 10th out of 19 teams.  Hayley Sutter (28:58) led the women as Michelle Paxton (29:12) improved upon her time of 29:26 from last year’s event.  Krysta Oehm finished out the scoring for the team as she ran a time of 31:44.  Hayley’s time is also a new team record, while Paxton is now second on the all-time lists and Krysta sits at fifth.

Both teams were the top finishing teams from the state of Nebraska.

Meanwhile, back in Nebraska, Brian Wandzilak represented the team at the Nebraska Association trail championships at Platte River State Park.  Wandzilak placed 3rd overall (runner-up in the USATF championship) by running the 12k distance in a time of 55:28.

Next up for the team will be the GSK 10k/2mile on Saturday, April 9th, followed by the Lincoln Half/Full Marathon on Sunday May 1st.  The Lincoln Half Marathon will also serve as the Nebraska USATF half marathon championships.
