LRC Racing had a strong start to the official beginning of the 2014 racing season.  On Saturday March 29th, fifteen LRC athletes took to Mopac trail for the 16th Annual State Farm 10 mile and 5k.  In the 5k race, LRC went 1-2 in the men’s race with Ryan Dostal taking overall honors (15:53), and Cole Marolf coming in not far behind (16:18).  Ryan’s time is the 4th fastest 5k time in team history, and Cole’s time puts him in a tie with Andrew Jacob for 7th on the Top 10 list.

In the State Farm 10 mile, Neil Wolford (55:02) and Hayley Sutter (1:01:16) led the way for LRC Racing with first place finishes in their respective races.  Rounding out the top ten for the men were Ryan Regnier (3rd – 56:30), Tom Woods (4th – 57:05), Brian Wandzilak (7th – 58:05) and Chad Sellers (9th – 59:08).  Other LRC men competing were Brian Kelley (15th – 1:01:46), Derek Sekora (16th – 1:01:57), Austin McKillip (17th – 1:02:10) and Jason Schmaderer (28th – 1:04:11).  For the women, Hayley was followed by Amber Sargent (4th – 1:06:33), Nora Youngs (5th – 1:07:15) and Krysta George (7th – 1:08:26).  In addition to the overall awards, LRC took home many of the age group awards as well.  Full race results from State Farm can be found here.

In addition to the fifteen members competing in Lincoln, NE, LRC Racing sent a team to Chicago, IL for the USATF 8k Team Championships.  Despite the cold weather hanging around the area upon arrival, Sunday’s race conditions were very conducive to fast times and great competition.  LRC was led by Tanner Fruit (23:55) who finished 11th overall in the 8k race.  Michael Rathje also ran a great race, crossing the finish line in 24:56 (41st) with Tom Nichols not far behind in 25:00 (44th).  Logan Watley rounded out the scoring runners by finishing in 26:15 (88th).  With the combined times, LRC Racing finished 9th out of 26 teams and was the first team from Nebraska.
