Havelock Run and Hospital Hill

As has become the custom, LRC dominated the team competition at the Havelock Run 3k/10k, despite the rainy conditions.  In the 3k, Cole Marolf lead the way with a second overall finish, which is also second on the all-time Top 10 Charts.  Logan Watley finished in 5th (9:32), Andrew Jacob was 10th (9:58), Craig Christians was 14th (10:24) and Dan Haden finished up in 15th (10:33), Andrew, Craig & Dan’s times were 6th, 9th and 10th, respectively on the Top 10 Charts, while’s Craig time is a new Master’s record. LRC beat the next closest team (NWU Mixed team) by :24 per mile and was nearly four minutes per mile ahead of the next open team.

In the 10k, Michael  Rathje was the first LRC member to finish (4th overall) in a time of 33:12.  Eric Noel was not far behind in 5th (33:23) and then Chad Sellers (34:19), Brian Wandzilak (35:34), Brian Kelley (37:32) and Darin Schlake (39:18) rounded out the rest of the men’s team in 10th, 14th, 18th and 25th, respectively.  The LRC Men beat the second overall team (LRC Women) by nearly 5 1/2 minutes and the next open team by 9:51 per mile.

Speaking of the women, they beat the next women’s team by 7 1/2 minutes per mile with an impressive 1-2-3 finish.  The team was lead by Michelle Paxton in her debut for LRC Racing.  Michelle won the overall women’s race in a time of 38:44, which places her 4th on the all-time charts.  Teammate Hayley Sutter finished second (39:13), with Amber Sargent coming in third (39:43).  Nora Youngs rounded out the team scoring as she ran a time of 41:09 (6th overall).

Maureen Larsen also had a busy weekend and she headed south for some racing.  Maureen competed in the Hospital Hill 5k on Friday night (19:56, 2nd overall) and then in the half marathon on Saturday morning (1:29:31, 4th overall). Maureen’s time lowers both her 5th Top 10 time and her master’s record.

LRC Racing will have several athletes competing in the Grandma’s Half/Full Marathon in Duluth on June 21st.
