GSK (Novartis) 10k

This will most likely be the last year we will be able to reference “Novartis” in relation to the 10k race held 2-3 weeks before the Lincoln Half and Full Marathons.  GSK acquired Novartis, causing a change in the sponsorship of the race. Regardless of what to call the race, LRC showed up and ran well like always.

Neil Wolford took home the title for the first time since 2013 in a time of 32:59.  Ivan Marsh (5th, 34:21), Cole Marolf (6th, 34:31), Tom Woods (8th, 34:52) and Andrew Jacob (9th, 35:14) rounded out the top 10.  Austin McKillip (2nd AG, 38:23), Jeff Hansen (1st AG, 41:07) and Brett Daugherty (2nd AG, 41:17) also raced on the chilling morning.  Marsh’s time also improves his place on the Top 10 charts to second.

In the two mile, Logan Watley was 2nd overall in a time of 11:07.  This was his first race since the Twin Cities Marathon over six months ago, which is now fourth on the all-time charts.

Meanwhile, on the east coast, Hayley Sutter, continued her tear on the racing circuit by running the Doyle’s Emerald Necklace 5 mile race in a time of 29:04, which is a new team record.

Next up for many will be either the Lincoln Half or Lincoln Full Marathon.  The Lincoln Half Marathon will serve as the association’s championship for that distance.
