Distance Track Night – 08.02.19
On Friday, August 2nd, LRC Nebraska held the first ever Distance Track Night in conjunction with Elkhorn High School Cross Country. With 47 registrants, it was a night full of distance running, despite only hosting the (true) mile, 5k and competitive 5k events.
Full results for the event can be found HERE.
As far as LRCN goes, Matt Fayers led the Men's Mile from wire to wire, finishing in a time of 4:31.21. Matt has dealt with some injuries lately and has only done three interval-style workouts since February. We are hoping to get Matt on the track (or on the road) a lot more these next 12 months!
In the women's 5k, Marissa Moore and Ashlyn Glann finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in times of 19:42.40 and 20:00.02.
The race of the night was one of the deepest 5k's in recent memory, with six runners finishing in under 16:00. The race was primarily made-up of LRCN Members looking for a final race to cap summer or to springboard into fall racing:
Johnny Rutford - 2nd, 15:13
Nolan Zimmer - 3rd, 15:14
Mark Abrams - 4th, 15:37.5
Kyle Johnson - 5th, 15:49.5
Tim Meyer - 6th 15:50
John Cleary - 9th 16:33.5
Carston Dammann - 10th 16:39
This was a great first time event, and hopefully something the community can build on at future events!
