Des Moines (Half) Marathon Recap

LRC Racing took to the streets in Des Moines Marathon and Half-Marathon. With a brand new course and a foggy day with high humidity, LRC-Racing and the state of Nebraska as a whole put together solid performances in both races.
The state of Nebraska had 3 of the top 4 finishers in the Men’s Half-Marathon with Luka Thor (Team Nebraska), Michael Rathje (3rd OA, 1:12:21), and Ryan “Dorstal” Dostal (4th OA, 1:12:29), respectively, and a 4th place Masters finish from LRC’s own Charles Smith (1:24:12).

The Des Moines Marathon caters to the Full Marathon, and the competition didn’t disappoint. The first six finishers were elite Kenyan’s with 1st place running 2:16 and 5th running 2:24. LRC’s Ryan Regnier finished 9th overall (2:45:55) and was also the first masters runner to finish the race. Ryan’s time is a new masters record for the LRC Racing team! Brian Wandzilak also ran to a 35th place finish out of 1,374 finishers (8th AG) with a gutsy performance of 3:05:12. These two are the epitome of grind-it-out runners and that is what they did in brutal conditions.

Now, off to Capital City Classic on October 23rd, and The Good Life Halfsy, November 6th.
