Catching Up

By Logan Watley (June 3, 2011)

A lot has gone on for the team since the last post following the marathon.  Probably the biggest news is that with qualifying times in the half-marathon and 10k, Drew Pope has been accepted to the team.  Drew is out of college and really hasn’t run competitively since his high school days in Chadron.  Drew will be running his first marathon this Sunday (June 5th) in the Deadwood Marathon in South Dakota with hopes of qualifying for the 2012 Boston Marathon.

Also, two members ran well in their first races back from the May 1st Lincoln Full/Half Marathon. Amber Brandenburger won the women’s 7k at the Lucky Bucket Run in Ashland, NE on May 14th, while Logan Watley won the Boystown Memorial Day 5 mile.  Ironically, both runners finished in 28:21.

Finally, tomorrow is a big day in the Lincoln racing circuit.  The Havelock Charity Run will take place tomorrow morning at 7:00am, and LRC Racing will be represented by seven runners in the 3k/10k races.  LRC Racing, along with Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) distance alumni and current NWU distance runners, will account for five of the teams racing tomorrow.  In total, these runners will raise $375 for various charities, assuming they beat the Pinnacle Bank runners.  The teams will consist of an open 3k team, a women’s 10k team, a men’s 10k team, and two mixed 10k teams.

Look for posted results early next week!
